Structured Learning Wheel Classes

2 hours x 8 weeks

$420 – 8x 2 hour classes
1/2 bag is supplied, then you will need to purchase more clay as needed

This 8 week x 2 hour term is the next step up from the Beginner 8 week term. The whole course runs for 4 terms(over 12 months) and each term covers new techniques to expand your knowledge of pottery on the wheel. You can jump in at any term and stay with the course for 12 months learning new techniques each term.

These classes are are suited to potters that have already learnt the basics. Please don’t sign up to this class if you haven’t tried the wheel before. The 8 Week Beginners Wheel term is for you.

This is a structured class where you’ll be learning new techniques with everyone else in the class. If you’re after a class where you are free to make whatever you like, join the 3 Hour Open Term.
You will be managing your own clay this term as well. You will be given 1/2 a bag to start with, but then you’ll need to purchase more bags as needed. You’ll be learning how to save all your scraps and wedge your clay to then be used again on the wheel.

Here’s the structure for Term 1. This will develop every term for those that wish to continue their learning.

Week 1-2 – Coffee mugs with pulled handle.
Learn how to make and attach a handle on cups and mugs.

Week 3-4 – Jugs with handle and spout.

FAQ

Cancellations – You can cancel your term class up to 7 days before the start of term for a full refund. Within 10 days is a 10% cancellation fee. Within 3 days no refunds are given, unless another student is found to replace your space, then only the 10% fee is charged with the rest refunded.

Min Class Size – All wheel classes need a minimum of 4 people in the class in order for the class to proceed. If there are less than 4 people, then we reserve the right to cancel the class and give everyone a refund.

Missing Classes – Separate classes in a term are non-transferable. If you miss a class, you may be able to complete a catchup class in another session if there is space available, but most classes are generally full.

Firing Service – Pieces that are thrown at home and brought into fire must go through the studio ‘Firing Service’ process and be paid for separately. Cost is $10/kg for bisque and $15/kg for glaze firing. We can not guarantee a fast turn around of extra pieces.\

Fair Use – These classes are not intended to be a production space for businesses. They are here for like minded people to connect through the art of pottery. Of course, you are free to sell the pieces you make(and we highly encourage careers in pottery!), but be aware there are a lot of pieces for our team to fire to ensure pottery is ready for students. We will have a chat with you if we feel your output is beyond what we believe to be ‘fair use’.

Teachers – Sometimes teachers become unavailable leading up to or during a term, so we may need to change teachers. We will let you know as soon as we find out.

Parking – For the evening classes you are able to park on West St, but during the day West St is only 1 hour parking. Plenty of day parking can be found on streets off West St. There is no parking available in the lane way down the side of the shop.

Clay – All clay is included for the 2 hours classes. The 3 hour class you must purchase your own clay.

Glazes – All glazes and slips will be supplied.

Firing – Firing is included with course costs.

Registration – Make sure to remember your login and password when you register. All future classes can be booked through that account.
