$240 – 8x 120 min classes
These are 1.5 hour classes held online that introduce your child to clay. The course runs for 6 weeks during each school term. Classes run 4:00pm to 5:30pm on Tuesdays.
Children will learn how to turn their ideas into clay using techniques such as slab rolling, pinch pots, carving patterns and painting colour. The course starts with using templates, but soon has the students designing their own pieces.
If you are near to the Umina studio, you can bring your pieces into the shop and we’ll fire them for you. If you aren’t anywhere near us, it’s not too hard to find a local pottery society that can fire your creations.
When you register, we send out a kit that contains all the clay, colour and templates you’ll need, a sponge and a wire cutter. Although specialised sculpting tools are nice, the tools we’ll be using in the classes can easily be found around the home. You’ll need to bring along:
- Knife to cut your clay. A butter knife is what we’ll be using
- Paddle pop stick
- Small paint brush
The kit we send out is included in the price.
Age limit is from 7 years old, but if you have a younger child you’d like to book in, contact us for a chat.
The Creative Kids Voucher can be used on this course to the value of $100. To use this voucher, before you reserve your spot you’ll:
- First register for the voucher at service.nsw.gov.au.
- Once you have the voucher code run through the booking process and enter the code, child’s name and DOB in the text box.
This project is supported by the NSW Government through Create NSW and the Creative Kids Program.
